The Multimedia-Based curriculum is delivered via CD-ROM and requires the use of a personal computer, but does not require access to the Internet. All of the core subjects are covered (i.e., Language Arts, Mathematics, History, Geography, and Science). The Multimedia-Based curriculum incorporated graphic-rich multimedia (e.g., movies, maps, timelines, learning games, and interactive projects) to captivate students’ interest and increase learning. The utilization of multimedia content engages students to learn while reinforcing the skills needed within today’s highly technological society.
Like Workbook-Based curriculum, the Multimedia-Based curriculum makes use of the time tested and proven principle of “Mastery Learning.” Mastery Learning is the process by which a student “masters” pre-defined content and skills before moving on to the next level.
Although designed to cover an entire academic year, the Multimedia-Based curriculum is self-paced, allowing students to progress at their individual learning speeds. The sense of accomplishment experienced by students after “mastering” a workbook motivates them to actively master the next workbook. Each module contains graphic-rich materials, including movies, maps, timelines, learning games, and interactive projects, as well as review questions, and exams. The included diagnostic tools afford for measuring of the students’ learning progress.
In addition to the core subjects, the Multimedia-Based curriculum offers over 50 electives.
