The Multimedia-Based curriculum is delivered via CD-ROM and requires the use of a personal computer (but not access to the Internet). All of the same course materials as contained in the Workbook-Based curriculum are available through Multimedia-Based curriculum. However, because the Multimedia-Based curriculum is delivered via CD-ROM, all courses incorporate graphic-rich multimedia (e.g., movies, maps, timelines, learning games, interactive projects, et cetera) to captivate students’ interest and increase learning. The Multimedia-Based curriculum makes use of multimedia content to engage students to learn while reinforcing the skills needed within todays’ highly technological society.
Like the Workbook-Based curriculum, the Multimedia-Based curriculum makes use of the time tested and proven principle of “Mastery Learning.” Mastery Learning is the process by which a student “masters” pre-defined content and skills before moving on to the next level. Also, like the Workbook-Based curriculum, the Multimedia-Based curriculum is self-paced, allowing students to progress at their individual learning speed. The sense of accomplishment experienced by students after “mastering” a module motivates them to actively master the next module. Each module contains graphic-rich materials, as well as review questions and exams. The included diagnostic tools afford for measuring students’ learning progress and outcomes.
